Ten Hag hits out at four players in furious interview after Brighton loss

Erik ten Hag singled out four of his players for criticism after Brighton defeat as he was not happy at his team's lack of ruthlessness in front of goal.

Brighton scored a 99th-minute winner at the Amex in a thrilling game. Both sides felt they deserved something from the match and it was the Seagulls who came out on top.

United had better chances in the first half, with Antony missing an opportunity in the opening seconds of the game.

And failing to take one of the openings proved to be costly for the club. In an interview after the game, Antony was one of the players Ten Hag singled out.

He also claimed Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Casemiro should have scored from opportunities they had.

Asked how he would sum up the result, Ten Hag told Sky Sports: "I think in the first minute it was everything, we created a chance but we didn't score. So we have to be more clinical with our chances in the first half.

"And in the end we gave away a goal, that can't happen, must not happen. We lost maybe a little bit of focus, also a bit unlucky because it was never a free kick where the corner came from. So you can't bounce back anymore but that's what we have to do on Sunday [against West Ham].

"We had the chances clear. With Antony dos Santos, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Casemiro - all great opportunities, one has to be in."

He added: "No I don't have concerns. It's about keeping the focus and when we don't lose the focus in the final and dying seconds of the game, we take the point. In the end if you can't win it because you can't finish your chances, then don't lose."

Man United are still yet to confirm a spot in the Premier League top four. And Liverpool can close the gap to just one point if they beat Brentford on Saturday but they would then have two games in hand.
