Chelsea set asking price for Kai Havertz as Real Madrid enter talks

Chelsea have set a £52m asking price for Kai Havertz amid huge interest from Real Madrid in the attacker, according to reports.

The La Liga giants interest emerged this month with the club seeking to reshape their options in attack.

Real Madrid are now set to step up their pursuit of Havertz, especially after the confirmation that Karim Benzema will leave this summer.

According to Sport 1, discussions have already begun between Chelsea and Real over Havertz's possible transfer.

And the London side are claimed to have set a price of €60m (£52m) for Havertz.

The report also claim Havertz has been considering his Chelsea future for a long-time.

Chelsea had a tough season after a major overhaul of the squad, with Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Lampard having all sat in the dugout during the campaign.

Havertz is said to be keen on a move to Real Madrid, while Chelsea are believed to view the 23-year-old as a saleable asset as Mauricio Pochettino seeks to trim their bloated squad.

Real were previously keen on signing Havertz when he was at Bayer Leverkusen. But the player instead completed a £76m move to Stamford Bridge back in 2020, a then club record deal.

The Premier League side are facing a potentially sizeable loss should they agree to sell the Germany International.

The attacker has scored 32 goals in 139 matches for Chelsea, including getting the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final.

Havertz has also struggled during Chelsea’s difficult campaign, scoring just nine goals and making one assist in 47 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Real confirmed the exit of Karim Benzema this week, with the Spanish team set to test Tottenham's resolve with a £100m bid for Harry Kane.

But Havertz is seen as a more straightforward signing.
