John Terry names Chelsea's two best players against Man City

John Terry has singled out two players who shone for Chelsea during their 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Mauricio Pochettino's team arrived in Manchester seeking to build on their 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Monday, which propelled them into the Premier League's top half.

They started brightly against City, securing the lead in the 42nd minute with Raheem Sterling's composed finish into the corner of the net.

The second half primarily saw Chelsea defending as City launched 17 shots at their goal.

However, City struggled to break through until the 83rd minute when Rodri's shot from the edge of the area deflected off Trevoh Chalobah and into the net.

At that point, City appeared poised to claim all three points, but they failed to secure the winning goal, resulting in a shared outcome for both sides.

Taking to Twitter, Chelsea legend and four-time Premier League winner Terry promptly highlighted two players who impressed him in what he described as a solid team performance.

He wrote: "Great performance. We looked solid and posed a threat on the counter attack, Axel Disasi and Malo Gusto both excellent.
"Brilliant from everyone."

Jamie Carragher agreed with Terry's assessment of Disasi while in the Sky Sports studio after the match, saying: "I can't remember a better defensive performance this season.

"That was a John Terry performance."

According to WhoScored, Disasi's aerial superiority saw him win four aerial duels, surpassing all other defenders on the field at the Etihad Stadium.

This point could prove pivotal for Pochettino's youthful Blues squad, who maintain aspirations of securing European qualification for next season through a strong finish in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, City find themselves four points adrift of league leaders Liverpool with a less favorable goal difference.

However, they do possess a game in hand over both Liverpool and Arsenal, who are positioned ahead of them.
