Aston Villa is set to face Bayern Munich for the first time in more than 42 years in a Champions League group stage match at Villa Park on Wednesday.
Their only previous encounter was in the 1982 European Cup final at De Kuip in Rotterdam, where Aston Villa, then winners of the Football League First Division (now the EFL Championship), secured a narrow victory with a single second-half goal against the German side.
